![]() ![]() If you have OEM licensing you cannot move it, at all. If you have a retail license on one machine you can transfer it to another, removing it from the first. The only difference is that one is already win 10 and one is still on 7.You cannot transfer and installation of Windows from one PC to another like that. I have 2 licences.each machine has its own licence. I have an old pc with win 10 and a new pc with win 7.i wanted to clone the old pc and have everything on new pc.Moving a license from one PC to another isn't allowed unless it's a Retail license, on the original machine. OP says "I have a win7 machine" so he's clearly not just cloning an existing Windows 10. But if he's just backing up and restoring on the same PC there would be no issue and no need for the questions he posted. Without a VL, you can't use an image to "deploy" Windows but you certainly can use imaging/cloning software to backup/restore a specific PC.Sure. If you don't have a VL of Windows 10 you can't deploy an image of 10 to any machine.ĭepends on what he's doing. ![]() ![]() You must use the Media Creation Tool mentioned by Chris above, not a clonezilla (or any) image. This is a very good point. Without at least 1 VL key, any and all imaging is in violation of your licensing agreement. If you don't know where or how to find your Volume License info, you don't have VL. I am not sure if how to determine whether its VL or not Its a refurbished machine that came with a COA with a product key on it. What type of Windows 7 Product key do you have? OEM, FPP, VL? ![]()
